Local group honoring vets KIA

Horry County, SC (WMBF) – A marine killed in action during a tour to Iraq is being honored on Veteran's Day. The ceremony will unveil the first monument in South Carolina honoring KIA service members.

The Veterans Benefits Foundation is inviting the public out to VFW Post 10420 in Murrells Inlet at noon on Monday to see the Memorial Wall for all post-9/11 veterans killed in action from South Carolina.

A trust is being set up in memory of marine TJ Honeycutt who lost his life during combat in Iraq in 2010. An IED exploded, causing him to lose his legs and eventually his life.

The trust is put on by the Veterans Benefits Foundation, and with zero administration fees, all donations go directly to the family.

Every month, the VBF wants to honor vets KIA. For more information on the foundation, check out their website at VAanswers.org
