MBPD: Victim fights off knife-yielding suspect

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The suspect in an attempted armed robbery found herself on the ground after she allegedly tried to use a knife to take the victims' wallet on Saturday.

The police report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department says that the victim told police he was in a wooded area at the intersection of Carver Street and Mr. Joe White Ave. He was sitting on a cinder block in the woods when he was approached from behind by the offender and an unknown male.

The offender got closer and grasped the chain attached to the victims' wallet, telling him to give it to her. The victim said the offender was holding a knife about 6 inches long.

At this point, the victim grabbed the hand the offender was holding the knife in, and she dropped it. The victim pushed her to the ground, grabbed the knife and threw it deep into the woods. He then grabbed his bag and left the area.

Police are investigating this incident.
