MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The City of Myrtle Beach is accepting applications for citizens interested in joining the 27th session of the Citizens Police Academy, which begins January 27.
Classes will meet Monday evenings for ten weeks. Topics discussed include crime scene investigation, emergency vehicle operation and simulated firearms training. They also ride and work with MBPD officers and staff for a behind-the=scenes look at the police department.
To apply you must be a resident of Horry County, and at least 21-years-old. A valid driver's license, criminal history check and driver's license background check are required.
Applicants who are accepted must attend at least eight of the ten classes and complete at least 15 hours of ride-along experience to graduate from the Citizens Police Academy.
