DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - One man has been arrested and charged with murder after a woman's body was found near the Little Pee Dee River on Oct. 31.
The Dillon County Coroner says the woman is Tina Scott Locklear, a 40 year old from Dillon County.
People who knew her say she was staying with friends in the Fork Community.
The body was discovered by a passerby around 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 31 on Buckswamp Road in the Fork community. That's on the border of Marion and Dillon counties.
The Dillon County Sheriff's Office says the passerby was collecting cans around Allen's Bridge, discovering the body.
Neighbors nearby believe the gruesome discovery startled him so badly, he took off to the closest house, asking neighbors to call 911.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office, Dillon County Sheriff's Office, Dillon County Coroner's Office and the State Law Enforcement Division all responded to investigate the death.
Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson confirmed that their investigation found the woman had been murdered in a home a day before she was found.
Authorities served a search warrant on that home and took one man into custody on an unrelated charge.
Dan Howard Cook Jr., 47, from Nichols is being charged with murder. Though he had an arraignment hearing on Nov. 4, his bond will not be set until he goes before a circuit court judge.
