CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police have two suspects in custody after a robbery attempt in Conway at the Cash 4 Gold store along Highway 501.

The suspects were identified by HCPD Wednesday as 21-year-old Leroi Bernard Jackson, of Conway, and 19-year-old Jamal Dashon Bessent, of North Myrtle Beach. Both are currently in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, each charged with one count of armed robbery.

The Cash 4 Gold store clerk, who is an older woman, spoke to WMBF NEWS. She stated the two armed men had their faces covered, and came into the store around 9:00 o'clock on Tuesday demanding money and jewelry.

She said she didn't have jewelry, but gave them the cash she had. She also adds the men stole the gun which was in the store for security purposes. When the two men went to leave she said one of the robbers turned around and pointed the gun at her. She said she begged for him not to shoot her. According to her they turned around and left.

Sam Rhodes works across the street of Highway 501 at the South Atlantic Monument Co. He said him and his business partner noticed something was happening. "My partner was sitting here, he was looking out the window and said, 'they must be having a Halloween party next door or a contest?' I said 'why?' well two men just went in there."

Rhodes said after he saw the men leave he went over to see what happened and talk to the clerk. "She said they robbed her and she was all to pieces, and I probably would have been to."

The Horry County Police Department's bloodhound team was dispatched to the area of Highway 501 and Causey Road in Conway to search for the two suspects: males wearing all black, who may be wearing Halloween masks, according to a Facebook post from the HCPD.

Horry County Police were on the scene looking for the individuals till about 12:30 p.m. They told people in the neighborhood to stay in their homes until both were found.
