ROBESON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Thursday night fire at a house in Orrum, North Carolina is under investigation, officials said.

The fire was called in at about 8:24 p.m. Thursday, and the fire had already broken through the roof at the time of the call, stated Lt. Brian Duckworth with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.

The home had been purchased earlier in the month and rewired, due to the wire being stolen, Lt. Duckworth said. The fire burnt from the center of the traditional-style home, which was built in 1956.

The Sterlings Fire Department was on the scene for about four hours, with help from the Orrum Fire Department, Lt. Duckworth said.

The fire is under investigation, and anyone with any information is asked to call 671-3100 or 737-5067.
