Woman arrested in Brunswick Co. for trafficking cocaine

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – A woman from Bolivia, North Carolina was arrested in Brunswick County near Calabash Thursday night for trafficking in cocaine, among other charges, officials stated.

Sherry Marie Gilbert, 40, was arrested during a traffic stop on Highway 17 near Calabash after a brief investigation into numerous complaints from the community, stated a Brunswick County Sheriff's Office official in a news release.

Over 57 grams of cocaine, with a street value of about $6,000, and a Cadillac Escalade were seized, officials stated.

Gilbert was charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine, one count of PWIMSD cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $210,000 secured bond.
