Family displaced by house fire in Georgetown Co.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A family has been displaced after a home north of Georgetown was destroyed by a fire early Friday morning, officials confirmed.

Chief Mack Reed with the Georgetown County Fire Department said the fire at a home in the 200 block of Andrew Drive started in the ceiling or attic after about 1 a.m.

Firefighters from Williamsburg and Horry County were sent in to help, and at one point, firefighters had to pull back and attack the fire externally, Chief Reed said. The home is a total loss.

Red Cross is assisting the displaced family, Chief Reed said.
