(CNN) - Auto-makers are getting help putting more electric vehicles on the road.
Eight states have agreed to aggressively push the sale of electric and hydrogen-fueled cars, truck and buses.
National standards for charging stations, financial incentives for buying the cars and lowering consumer electric rates are expected to help get people to buy electric vehicles.
The goal is to boost electric vehicle sales by 3.3 million vehicles by 2025.
Besides California and New York, the states involved are Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont.
