TABOR CITY, NC (WMBF) – If you've ever wanted to be part of a real-life zombie apocalypse, either as a survivor or a zombie, this weekend is your chance.

The True Mudd Zombie Run in Tabor City, North Carolina benefits Special Operations Wounded Warriors, and it's not an average race: competitors must run, jump, crawl, hurdle, climb, and swim their way to the finish of the 5K, all while avoiding volunteer "zombies."

The zombies will be trying to steal flag football-style flags being worn by the runners, who must cross the finish line wearing at least one flag, or "life."

The run kicks off at 8 a.m. on October 26. There will be other activities, including a kid run, costume contest, and a "Bonfire Apocalypse Party."

Organizers are still looking for more zombie volunteers, and anyone who mentions the promotion code "WMBF" will get a discounted rate on registering as a runner.
