Lake View High athlete in the WMBF 'Student Spotlight'

LAKE VIEW, SC (WMBF) - Seventeen-year-old Morgan Herlong is an athlete at the top of the Lake View High School class who volunteers in the community and was also crowned homecoming queen. That's why Herlong is in WMBF's 'Student Spotlight.

Every weekday morning you can find Herlong co-anchoring the morning announcements on GTV, the high schools news program, but that's just one of her talents. Playing sports is her favorite. She's been playing volleyball and softball for six years and plans to attend North Greenville University on a scholarship playing softball.

"I plan on majoring in biology and then going into pre-med," she says.

Morgan wants to become a pediatrician. It's an ambitious goal, but she's already taking strides to achieve. "I study everyday in my free time and then after school," says the 3.89 GPA recipient.

Morgan says she also volunteers with 'Habitat for Humanity' and as Student Council President started the school's first anti-bullying campaign to encourage everyone to wear orange for awareness.

Morgan has a few words of advice for those who struggle in school. "Just work hard in school because eventually it will pay off."
