Quarterback carousel: CCU preps for VMI without Alex Ross

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina football is fresh off a 19-point comeback win over Liberty last week, and now the team is preparing to take on VMI this weekend; but will have to do so without starting quarterback Alex Ross. The sophomore suffered two injuries in the Liberty game, and will have to sit this game out.

While taking on the Flames, Ross injured his foot in the third quarter, and also suffered an injury on his left hand earlier in the game. Surgery isn't required for either, but he'll be out this week, so the Chants have three other quarterbacks to turn to - Dalton Demos, Michael Church and Brian Kass. Coastal Carolina head Joe Moglia hasn't named a starter yet, but said he wouldn't be surprised if all three played.

Demos has seen time in games this year running two-point conversions for the Chants, and Brian Kass was a starter last year for the Wofford Terriers. He transferred to Coastal Carolina after graduating, and this is his last year of college eligibility.

CCU hosts VMI at 6:00 on Saturday from Brooks Stadium
