MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach Police Department arrested a man on a charge of attempted murder Wednesday morning, stemming from a shooting incident that occurred in August, according to the police report.

Frenchman Deshawn Collins, 39-years-old, was arrested Wednesday in connection to the event that occurred on August 22 on 12th Ave N in Myrtle Beach.

The MBPD responded to a call around 6 p.m., and found the victim standing on the second floor of an apartment building in front of the stairwell. When asked if he heard shots fired earlier, the victim replied, "Yes, he was shooting at me." He was not injured.

Police officers said the victim advised he had never seen the offender before. He said the offender was walking westbound on 12th Ave N and pointed a small black handgun at the victim, who was standing on the second floor in front of his room.

The offender fired one shot towards him, the police report states, and the victim dropped to the floor. The offender then took off running.

At the time of the incident, police found several pieces of wood that looked like a handgun grip, as well as a small hole in a door that resembled a bullet hole.

Collins was taken to the Myrtle Beach Jail.
