Driver flees scene of crash on Hwy. 17 at Glenns Bay Rd

SURFSIDE, SC (WMBF) - Highway Patrolmen are investigating a hit and run with injuries at the intersection of Highway 17 Bypass and Glenns Bay Road.

That incident occurred around 8:55 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say a 1999 Jeep Cherokee attempting to turn left onto Glenns Bay Road struck a Chevy Blazer traveling north on Highway 17.

The driver and passenger in the Chevy Blazer had to be extricated from the vehicle; both were transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee fled the scene.
