GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – Georgetown County Fire/ EMS is having a Fire Prevention Parade on Front Street on Saturday, October 26.
The parade will begin at East Bay Park at 11 a.m., and will travel down Front Street to Cleland Street. Fire Departments from throughout the region are invited to participate, and each will show off modern and antique fire equipment.
The event is held in light of Fire Prevention Month, which lasts through October. Georgetown County Fire was planning to hold an open house, but decided to try something different in an effort to get its message across to a larger audience.
The GCF said the parade was planned prior to the fire that claimed part of historic Front Street's 700 block on September 25, but that emphasizes the importance of what fire departments are tasked with and the message of fire and life safety they spread all year.
