FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - South Carolina Highway Patrol and the West Florence Fire Department are investigating a single car crash that killed one person.
Fire crews were called to North Douglas Street around 6:41 a.m. Saturday where a 1997 Jeep Cherokee had overturned and one person was trapped inside.
Highway Patrol officials say the car, which was driving toward the City of Florence on Douglas Street, crossed the center line and veered off the road into the woods striking a tree.
Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken confirms the crash claimed the life of the driver, who was wearing a seatbelt. He died at the scene from massive upper body trauma.
The driver was identified as 34-year-old Bryan Gerard Williams of the Florence area.
