MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police are investigating a report of an assault Thursday evening after a man told officers he was hit by a golf club while walking in Myrtle Beach.
Officers responded to the Myrtle Beach Fire Station where the 50-year-old victim told them he was struck with a golf club in front of the Jet Age Cafe near the 1400 block of Joe White Avenue, according to a MBPD report.
Medics said his arm appeared to be broken, and he had a cut on his head. He was taken to a nearby hospital.
Officers found a trail of blood that went from the corner of Mr. Joe White Avenue and Grey Street to the fire station, the report states.
The officer was able to see the incident on surveillance camera video from a nearby convenience store. The video showed a man run up behind the victim while he was walking on Grey Street, then swing at the victim. The video was taken from too far away to make out physical features of the suspect, the report states.
A crime scene officer and a detective responded to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
