MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – Families are invited to the Palmetto Campout at Huntington Beach State Park for an adventure-filled weekend for the whole family.
A secluded area of the park is reserved for this event, held October 19-20, where families will stay overnight with park rangers who will help set-up tents. The International Paper Foundation provided a grant for this event so that a set of loaner tents, lanterns and sleeping pads is available for any family without their own items.
Ranger guides will teach cooking, campfire and camping secrets, and families will learn how to rig a crabbing line, throw a cast net, pull a seine net, paddle a kayak and much more.
The fee is $25 for each family, which includes all activities. Participants will be provided with a list of food items to bring, that they will prepare over the campfire at their campsite.
The weekend begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday October 19, and will conclude after lunch on Sunday.
Huntington Beach State Park is located along US 17 in Murrells Inlet.
