HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – The Hartsville Fire Department is teaming up with Papa John's Pizza for a tasty deal promotion during Fire Prevention Week.
During the week of October 7 through October 11, city residents who order pizza may find a City of Hartsville firefighter paired with their pizza with a special offer. If the customer allows the firefighter to test the home smoke alarms, and all are working properly, the pizza order will be free. If a smoke alarm is not working or installed, the firefighters will furnish one, or provide batteries for an installed device.
The participating Papa John's is located at 814 S. Fourth Street in Hartsville, and can be reached at 843-332-6500.
"Installing and maintaining smoke alarms is an easy way to reduce the danger of house fires, and nearly cuts in half the risk of dying in such a fire," says Fire Marshal Byran Crowley.
The HFD says the special promotion is happening during Fire Prevention Week, a time established by the National Fire Protection Association to draw attention to the dangers involved in house fires, and the steps families can take to protect themselves. Smoke alarms serve as a valuable precaution for homes and can give residents the extra seconds needed to get away from a house fire safely.
