SCHP: 2 ejected, 1 dead after deer strikes Harley on Hwy 501

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a fatal motorcycle collision occurred on Hwy 501 in Aynor on Sunday morning at approximately 7:45 a.m.

The SCHP said the collision was on Hwy 501 north of Hwy 319. The motorcycle was traveling north on Hwy 501 when a deer ran from the side of the road and struck the motorcycle. The driver lost control after being struck, and both the driver and passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.

The driver and passenger, his wife, 64-year-old Mary Davis, were transported by EMS to the hospital where Davis later died from multiple blunt force trauma sustained in the accident. The couple is from Trenton, TX.

The SCHP is investigating the collision.
