Suspects ask for weed, try to rob man at gunpoint when he says no

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A 23-year-old man was walking home from work when he was stopped by two men on Oak Street who asked for weed, and then tried to rob him at gunpoint, according to a police report from the MBPD.

The victim told police he was walking home around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when a gold Toyota Camry with two men inside pulled up next to him at the corner of Oak St. and 33rd Ave North. The passenger asked the victim if he knew where the weed was.

The victim told the suspects that he does not deal with that kind of stuff, and the passenger got out of the vehicle and pointed a silver revolver at him, demanding his money.

The victim said he ran toward a school and heard two gun shots as he was running. The victim made it home and called police, who are searching for a black heavyset male with short dread locks, a red shirt and red head band, who carried the gun. They are also searching for the driver who is described as a clean cut black male wearing a red shirt.
