Man tells police he was tied up, robbed Thursday morning

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach Police found a 68-year-old man tied up and honking his truck's horn early Thursday morning; he told them he had been bound and robbed by three men.

At about 5 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Columbia Drive for a complaint of someone sitting in a vehicle, honking the horn, according to a MBPD report.

Officers found the man had been tied up. He told officers that at about 4:50 a.m., he heard a knock at the door. One of the three men at the door knew his name, the report states, so he opened up, and they pushed their way inside.

They stole about $1,000 from his pockets, two phones, his wallet, and his keys before leaving, the report states. The victim was able to get his feet free, walked to his truck, and began honking until help arrived.

A detective and a crime scene investigator responded to process the scene.
