Men accused of cashing fraudulent checks

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police are searching for two men who allegedly cashed fraudulent checks.

According to the Myrtle Beach Police report, a woman report to authorities that she was contacted by a bank clerk that 33-year-old Robert Hawkins attempted to cash a check written by her business at South Carolina Bank and Trust for $2,343.87.

That check was not cashed. A second check was cashed for the amount of $2,174.67, but was made out to 41-year-old Mitchell Lee Sumpter.

Sumpter and Hawkins are last known to live at 1300 Spivey Avenue. Anyone with information about these men is asked to call Myrtle Beach Police at 843-918-1975.
