City of Hartsville scavenger hunt

Posted: Updated:

From the City of Hartsville:

Coming soon to downtown Hartsville — Tales on the Town, an installation of bronze sculptures in the shape of red foxes spread among the city's historic sites and businesses. A list of clues hinting at the location of each fox, available in a brochure and the project's official website, will allow the project to serve as a pedestrian-friendly scavenger hunt through which participants can explore and learn about Hartsville.

With a fundraising drive by Leadership Hartsville's Class of 2013, the project could be installing statues as early as the fall of 2013.

The project is the brainchild of Hartsville students Brittany and Bennett Joyce.

Leadership Hartsville's Class of 2013 has taken on the fundraising necessary for Tales on the Town, a project with an estimated cost of $15,000. The Duke Energy Foundation has provided a seed grant of $2,000. Major sponsors contributing $1,000 or more include SPC Credit Union, the Sonoco Foundation and the City of Hartsville. Additional sponsors include Coker College, Mutual Savings Bank and Coldwell Banker Segars McMillan. Donations continue to be accepted, and any business or individual contributing $1,000 or more will receive recognition on a marker in Burry Park and in all promotional material.

Donations may be provided by checks payable to the Community Foundation for a Better Hartsville and mailed to:
