FMU named one of South's best regional universities

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Francis Marion University received recognition as one of "America's Best Colleges" by U. S. Media Group, after being named one of the South's best regional universities according to the U.S. News & World Report.

"We are honored to be selected once again as one of America's Best Colleges in the 2014 edition of the U.S. News and World Report," said FMU President Dr. Fred Carter.

For more than a decade, U.S. News & World Report has ranked FMU among the South's best universities.

 "This ranking underscores our continued commitment to scholarship and teaching and is a tribute to the dedication and professionalism of our wonderful faculty," continued Dr. Carter.

    The Pawleys Island Chapel is being carefully moved across the street Friday so that repairs can be made on the building’s foundation. The church, which has been in the Pawleys Island community for about 50 years, is being lifted and moved across Myrtle Avenue between the North and South Causeways.
