Couple poses as guests to rob hotel room, police report states

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A couple posing as hotel guests were able to enter into the hotel room while the maid was cleaning, according to a Myrtle Beach Police report. When the actual guests returned a few hours later, they found their door opened and their belongings missing.

On Sunday afternoon, the three women staying at the Hampton Inn on Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach went out to enjoy their vacation, taking the Do Not Disturb sign off the hotel door before leaving.

A few moments later, the ladies tell WMBF News they believe the maid went into their room to clean up, leaving the door open.

During that time, the police report filed by the Myrtle Beach Police Department shows a couple walked into the room, acting like they were staying there. They sat on the bed, went to the bathroom, and made themselves comfortable.

The couple returned to their room after three hours, to find their electronics missing, according to a police report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

The housekeeper who cleaned the room told police the couple stayed in the room 10 to 15 minutes, making her believe it was their room.

The couple left, and the housekeeper finished cleaning the room. The female returned stating she had left her room key in the bathroom, so the housekeeper, believing the female was a hotel guest staying in the room, let the female suspect in. The housekeeper then left while the female was still in the room.

When the guests actually staying in the room returned, they found their laptop and iPod missing.
