Pelicans begin playoffs Wednesday

MYRTLE BEACH - The regular season may have ended Monday, but the Myrtle Beach Pelicans still have some baseball left to play. As the South Division champs, Myrtle Beach will head to the postseason for the third straight time in three years. They will face the Salem Red Sox in the first round of the Carolina League playoffs. Game one of the best of the three series will take place on Wednesday at Salem at 7:05. Myrtle Beach will host game two on Thursday night at the same time, and a third game on Friday if necessary.

The winner of that round will face the winner of the other semifinal, pitting the two best teams from the North Division in the Potomac Nationals and the defending champion Lynchburg Hillcats. The Mills Cup Series is a best of five, and will be played from September 7th-12th, with homefield advantage to be determined.
