GARDEN CITY BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Garden City Beach announced several new projects Tuesday aimed at enhancing the area's image.

Garden City Beach is planning a beautification project to improve several medians. Two new "Welcome" signs have been placed at the north and south ends of the unincorporated area of Horry County.

"The residents around here have always felt they need their identity," said Horry County Councilman Paul Price. "For about two and a half years, they've approached me at beach accesses saying 'Can we get palm trees? Can we get new signs?'"

Councilman Price says the projects were completed at little cost to the county, thanks to utilization of certain grants, like the Palmetto Pride Grant.

Garden City Beach has also launched a new website designed by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce:
