Teen hit by off duty SC sheriff's deputy

HANAHAN, S.C. (AP) - A teen on a mini-bike has been struck an injured by an off-duty Charleston County sheriff's deputy in Hanahan.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones says the deputy was driving a marked cruiser Tuesday when the bike pulled in front of him.

No charges have been filed.

Sheriff's Capt. Kevin Whited says Deputy Shawn James was not hurt and remains on duty. James has been a deputy for 12 years.

The 13-year-old boy was hospitalized with a broken leg.
