Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed in Hwy 378 crash

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man on a motorcycle was killed Saturday afternoon on Highway 378 after a pickup truck turned and collided with him, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. 

According to the SCHP, the crash occurred around 1 p.m. near where Highway 378 intersects with Highway 134. The driver of the motorcycle was Danny A. Craun, Jr, 21-years-old from Florence, according to Tony Hendrick with the Horry County Coroner's Office.

Craun was not wearing a helmet, and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Sonny Collins with the SCHP said the driver of the pickup truck was traveling west and made a left turn onto Highway 134, turning in front of Craun who was traveling east. The truck hit the motorcycle. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

There are no charges filed at this time, and the accident is under investigation by the SCHP.
