FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Three men were arrested in Florence Thursday and five pounds of marijuana were recovered after someone reported a possible drug drop to the CrimeStopper Tip line.

Investigators began watching the Shell gas station around the 1800 block of West Lucas Street after getting the tip on August 21, according to Timothy McFadden with the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

OnAugust 22, investigators saw a man get out of a small bus after pulling up to the Shell gas Station. Another man approached with two large bags. After the bags were placed on the bus, investigators approached the men and began questioning them, McFadden said.

A drug dog sniffed the vehicle, investigators searched it, and recovered five pounds of marijuana with a street value of $10,000, McFadden said.

The suspects have been identified as 39-year-old Kenneth Ivan McLeod and22-year-old Jahsiah Jones. Both men were arrested and charged with possession and intent to sell.

"They took both of them to jail and from what I understand they found a significant amount of marijuana in the car," said Jeff Lee.

Lee owns the Shell gas station, and he said aside from small isolated incidents like this drug bust, exit 164 is safe.

"Like I said this is a very safe exit. We have like three thousand hotel rooms, and as you know from the past we have very little incident here there is no reason for concern," Said Lee.

A third man, 47-year-old Gilbert Johnson, was also arrested after trying to argue with investigators while the other men were being arrested. Investigators believe he is connected to the other men, but so far, he has only been charged with interference, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

All three men are in the Florence County Detention Center. Tips can be reported anonymously to the Crime Stopper Tip Line at 1-888-CRIME-SC
