MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A convenience store clerk in Myrtle Beach reported that two men tried to use four counterfeit $10 bills Wednesday night.

A Myrtle Beach Police officer responded to a Kangaroo Express on 3rd Avenue South at about midnight Wednesday, where the clerk told the officer that two men entered the store at different times and tried to pay for items with counterfeit $10 bills, according to a police report.

The first man came in at about 11:05 p.m., and the second man came in about half an hour later. The clerk checked the bills with a counterfeit pen, and found all four failed the test, the report states.

The bills appeared the be printed on computer paper, and lacked the security features of real currency, including: the watermark seen when holding the bill to a light source, the color-shifting ink, the security strip, or the randomly-dispersed blue and red fibers, the police report states.

The two men left before police arrived. The bills were placed into evidence.
