MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - An unloaded gun was discovered in a passenger's bag at the Myrtle Beach International airport, according to the Transportation Safety Administration.

TSA spokesman Jon Allen said a total of 32 weapons were confiscated in the past week in America's airports. Those included loaded and unloaded guns, stun guns and knifes found at Columbus, Memphis, Nashville and Myrtle Beach airports, just to name a few.

The firearm discovered in Myrtle Beach was found on Thursday, August 15. It was an unloaded .22 caliber.

"Unfortunately these sorts of occurrences are all too frequent which is why we talk about these finds. Sure, it's great to share the things that our officers are finding, but at the same time, each time we find a dangerous item, the throughput is slowed down and a passenger that likely had no ill intent ends up with a citation or in some cases is even arrested. The passenger can face a penalty as high as $7,500.00," Allen stated.

The TSA does not release the name of passengers who may face criminal charges when caught with prohibited items.
