Hwy 378 reopens after fatal crash in Marion Co.

MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - All lanes of Highway 378 in Marion County have reopened after authorities cleared the scene of a fatal crash.

The crash occurred on Highway 378 on the west side of the Little Pee Dee River just two miles short of the Horry County line around 3:53 p.m. Friday, the SCHP website states.

Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant says the driver of a 2002 Buick traveling west on Highway 378 lost control of their vehicle in the heavy rainfall and the car spun out of control. The Buick crossed into the other lane of traffic and was struck on the passenger side door by a 2012 Ford F150.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. The driver of the Ford truck was not injured. The driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene.

All lanes of the highway were closed until around 6:30 p.m. when authorities cleared the scene. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigation this collision.
