Pee Dee checkpoints net 9 arrests

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network conducted two Traffic Safety Checkpoints on Friday, August 9, 2103; one on East Main Street (SC Highway 341) at Morning Glory Drive near Lake City, SC, and the other on U.S. Highway 52 (Ron McNair Boulevard) at the Piggly Wiggly Shopping Center in Lake City, SC. During the operations, a total of 692 vehicles were encountered and the following charges were made:

2 - Driving Under the Influence

1 - Open Container of Alcohol

6 - Driver's License Violations

6 - Driving Under Suspension

10 - Child Restraint Violations

1 - Operating Uninsured Vehicle

1 - Equipment Violations

1 - Fugitive Arrests

1 - Other violations

A total of 9 arrests were made, and 30 tickets were issued. 

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network is comprised of all of the law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties, including State Constables. Network operations are sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. The focus of the traffic safety checkpoints is the detection of impaired drivers and the prevention of alcohol related motor vehicle accidents. 

At a business meeting on Friday prior to the operation, Florence County Sheriff's Office was reelected the host agency for the Network for the fourth year in a row.
