At approximately 6:15 p.m. Sunday, August 11, Horry County Police officers responded to 3562 Old Reaves Ferry Road in Conway in reference to a shooting and stabbing, according to Lieutenant Robert Kegler.
Police said on arrival they found 35-year-old David Sims Jr. shot to death inside his home. Police added that when they got into the house they also found David Sims' wife, Heather, had been stabbed.
Investigators claim there was an altercation between the two which resulted in both the shooting and the stabbing.

Brandon Greenwood, 17, lives near the Sims couple. He described the two as a nice quite couple. Greenwood said hearing the news of David's death is shocking and surprising. "The man was really nice. He came up here a few times because I went fishing in his pond. He actually gave me 20 bucks to go get something to eat."
