Laurinburg man charged with stabbing his girlfriend

LAURINBURG, NC (WMBF) – A Laurinburg man was arrested and charged with the violent stabbing of his girlfriend, according to a news release from the Laurinburg Police Department.

The LPD says on June 1, officers responded to a call about an assault on Pitt Street in Laurinburg, where they found the 24-year-old female victim stabbed multiple times with a knife. She was transported to a nearby hospital following the incident.

Warrants were obtained for Jimmy Lee Patterson, 26-years-old of Laurinburg, and on July 29, Patterson contacted authorities. Officers from the LPD and Scotland County Sheriff's Office went to his location and he was taken into custody.

Patterson is charged with Attempted Murder, First Degree Kidnapping, assault inflicting serious injury and larceny. He was placed in the Scotland County Jail and his bond was set at $2.5 million.
