MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - A new reality show following eight young people and their life on the beach is coming to Murrells Inlet.
Crew members were setting up outside of King's Krest, a four-bedroom, two-bath house along the marsh that rents out to vacationers. 4-95 Productions is putting the show together and according to their website it looks like it might be called "Party Down South" to air on CMT.
Georgetown County officials met with producers to discuss concerns they have about the show. The county's planning and zoning director tells us although they realize they have no say so, they are concerned about content, and how the show will make the city appear.
The project will bring revenue into the area for businesses. The owner of Drunken Jack's says he has signed a contract to cater three meals a day for about 100 people during production.
"They are going to be here whether we like it or not," says Al Hitchcock. "We are just putting out the hospitality mat for these people coming to town."
Nearby residents aren't happy the production will be filming near them. The producers are the same folks that created "Jersey Shore" a wild reality series that followed the escapades of several young people in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
"I'm very upset," says resident Warren Steadman. "I have children that play in the yard and we don't know exactly what's going on but they are behind Jersey Shore which is a show I would not watch, and it's getting ready to happen in my neighborhood."
We are told that filming could last about six weeks.
