Grand Strand reacts to Kidd Kraddick's sudden death

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - After news of Kidd Kraddick's death at age 53, his listeners across the nation are coming to grips with the unexpected passing.

The "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" radio broadcast is syndicated to air on nearly 100 radio stations in America, including Mix 97.7 in Myrtle Beach.

David "Kidd" Kraddick was 53 when he passed away on Saturday, July 27 after an apparent massive heart attack in New Orleans.

Kraddick was in NOLA for a Kidd's Kids charity golf tournament. His charitable organization sent terminally ill children and their families to Walt Disney World. Three Myrtle Beach area children were selected as "Kidd's Kids" in 2012, reports Mix 97.7 program manager Ron Roberts.

"Having attended conventions alongside Kidd, then working with him at two different stations, he'd become like an extended relative," Ron Roberts said. "I'm not nearly as close to him, nor is he as much a part of my ‘everyday' as he is for his co-hosts, Kellie, Al, J-Si and Jenna, so I can't begin to imagine what they're going through, but we're sort of stunned and bewildered as to the show's future ourselves. We know that his charity, "Kidd's Kids," however, will definitely live on in some capacity."
