Golf simulators offer alternative to rain canceled games

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Pretty soon you will not have to worry about rain or stormy weather from keeping you from playing golf, at least outside.

A new restaurant called Teed Off is set to open this September, and it will provide golfers a unique chance to play famous courses like Pebble Beach and St. Andrews without ever stepping outside.

Teed Off Co-owner Rob Lombardo showed WMBF News a preview of one of three golf simulators that will give golfers an escape from the wet weather canceling out their rounds.

"There's 85 courses and we've played Pebble Beach once already," Lombardo said.

Co-owner Josh Durham said Teed Off will fit in with the crowds that frequent the area off the Highway 17 Bypass near Restaurant Row.

"We wanted to target a different demographic, high end clientele, mainly golfers to cater to them and we just really lucked out to be quite honest," added Durham.

Teed Off will replace the old home of the Zulu Lounge. Teed Off is just one business opening in the area.

Fine dining restaurant Ocean 17 opened its doors for a soft opening a few weeks ago and managers said business has been picking up. Ocean 17 is getting ready for its grand opening this coming week.
