SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A woman eight months pregnant has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after police saw her use drugs in a Surfside Beach home.

Laura Ashley Howell, 23, of Surfside Beach was in the kitchen of a home on Third Avenue North when the homeowner called police for a disturbance on Monday, July 22.

When officers arrived around 4:40 a.m., they found Howell snorting a line of blue powder they discovered to be crushed Xanax pills, for which Howell admitted she did not have a prescription.
