Dog owner cited for leaving pet in SUV while shopping

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A dog owner has been cited after leaving their canine in a hot car while shopping in Target.

The Myrtle Beach Police report states someone complained about the abandoned pet inside the hot SUV in the store's parking lot. A police officer arrived to find a black and white dog panting heavily inside a car measuring 110 degrees.

They removed the pet and gave it water and air conditioning.

The owner returned about 25 minutes later and was cited for the abandonment and mistreatment of animals.
