CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced the preliminary results of DNA testing performed in connection with Cleveland kidnapping and rape suspect Ariel Castro.

The Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) received a sample of Castro's DNA late Thursday afternoon, and forensic scientists worked throughout the night to confirm that Castro is the father of the six-year-old girl born in captivity to kidnapping victim Amanda Berry.

Castro's DNA profile was also compared to other DNA profiles submitted to the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS).   Castro's DNA did not match any other Ohio cases, however national results are pending through the FBI.

Castro is suspected of sexually abusing three women in his home while holding them and a child hostage for years with chains, ropes and locks.

Castro is sitting in the Cuyahoga County Jail in isolation under guard 24-7 in what's called a "suicide precaution." He is charged with rape and kidnapping, and the case is going to a Grand Jury for many more charges.

The Cuyahoga County Jail Chief Judge and the jail both tell 19 Action News that Castro now has a private attorney.

The jail says veteran local lawyer Craig Weintraub has notified the court he'll be representing Castro. We've left messages for Weintraub.

The County Prosecutor says he will seek murder charges since one woman claims Castro impregnated his victims and beat them to force miscarriages.

He could eventually face the death penalty and is currently jailed on $8M bond.
