MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - Bike week officially starts today and a larger-than-normal crowd is expected. As of Thursday afternoon, there are 55 vendor permits that have been pulled.
Most of them will be in the south and central areas of the Grand Strand. Organizers tell WMBF News this doesn't even count the amount of vendors that will be inside some of the buildings.
"Inside our building, we're not required to buy vending permits," said Bill Barber, the manager of Suck, Bang, Blow. "Both buildings are packed with vendors. And basically here at four corners I've got, other than one vendor, there are all brand new vendors."
This year it should be a little different. Some of the events will be more spread out across the Grand Strand instead of concentrated on the South and North Strand.
There are a lot of preparations going on right now, but Horry County vendors won't be able to set up until Monday, May 13. Organizers hope this year will be a year to show that Bike Week is coming back in full force.
