Police detain juvenile for Timmonsville Town Hall burglary

TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Police have located the male suspect caught on surveillance video breaking into the Timmonsville Town Hall and stealing several items.

A news release from the Florence County Sheriff's Office says town hall building was broken into around 5 p.m. on Monday, May 6 but deputies were not notified until Tuesday morning.

Reports indicate the suspect took handguns and Tasers.

Thanks to surveillance images, police could deduce that the suspect is a black male that was wearing a white Polo short sleeve shirt with the number 3 on the right shoulder, grey shorts, red Nike shoes, a blue toboggan and a black back pack.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Mike Nunn says a juvenile was taken into custody, and their office has filed a petition to charge him with burglary, breaking and entering a motor vehicle and malicious injury to real property.

The investigation is ongoing with the possibility of more arrests. Anyone with knowledge or information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Florence County Sheriff's Office at 843-665-2121, ext. 373 or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

This isn't the first time a public building in Timmonsville has been burglarized. The Municipal Offices were broken in to in August 2012 when court records, money and weapons were taken from the evidence room.
