Video released of N. Charleston police officer's arrest for DUI

Posted: Updated:

Authorities have released dashcam video of an off-duty North Charleston police officer's arrest for DUI following a traffic stop in Dorchester County.

Christina Mask is accused of crashing her patrol car while drunk.

A state trooper is seen in the video administering sobriety tests on Mask during a traffic stop in Jedburg on April 22, 2013.

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials said Mask was driving drunk around 1 a.m. Monday on McMakin Road in Jedburg when she ran off the road and hit a driveway culvert.

"My wife called me and she said she heard an explosion out front," said a man who owns the home where the officer's car crashed.

Troopers said Mask was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured.  She was not on duty at the time of the wreck.  According to court documents, her blood-alcohol level was recorded at .17, more than twice the legal limit.

Mask was charged with DUI and open container. North Charleston police officials say Mask has been with the department since 2009.
