Coastal Uncorked postponed to 2014

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Thanks to a ruling regarding alcohol, food and wine festival Coastal Uncorked has been canceled for 2013.

According to the news release from Stephen Greene, President and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association, the festival originally scheduled for the week of June 3 through June 8, 2013 has been postponed until 2014.

This news comes in the wake of a recent ruling by the SC Department of Revenue regarding "donated alcoholic products for non-profit events."

"Our decision to postpone this year's event is very disappointing, but to ensure we delivered a top culinary event we felt reworking the entire model of the festival in such a short time frame would not allow us to accomplish our goals of showcasing the Grand Strand culinary industry. We will continue to grow the Coastal Uncorked culinary brand with events scheduled throughout the year culminating with event week June 2-7, 2014," said Stephen Greene.

Coastal Uncorked is the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association's year round event, used to promote the culinary side of Myrtle Beach as a destination.
