New art gallery opens in Market Common

Seacoast Artists Guild

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Seacoast Artists Guild celebrated the grand opening of their new art gallery this week in the Market Common.

Organizers hope the gallery will shine a spotlight on the talent right in the Grand Strand.

"We have over 70 local artists exhibiting here right now," June Groft, Secretary for Seacoast Artists Guild. "They're all members of the Seacoast Artists Guild. The guild is very dedicated to promoting the visual arts in South Carolina, and, in addition to that, is committed to supporting and creating training programs for our youth."

The non-profit organization is dedicated to advancing excellence in visual arts through teaching workshops and special events.

The guild recently provided two scholarships to Horry County school students for CCU's summer art programs. They hope to partner with CCU to hold spring and fall shows for local youth.
