Students help save two from burning home

Posted: Updated:

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Two high school students helped save two people from a burning home in Pender County Sunday morning.

The Fire Marshal says a fire started in the backroom of a home on Penderlea Highway. He says while there will be smoke damage throughout the home, the fire only destroyed the backroom.

Investigators said the fire was electrical in nature.

The Fire Marshal says three people were inside the home at the time, everyone made it out of the home, but two of the residents were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

He says that two high school students helped to get the two people out of the home. The Deputy Fire Marshal says the Pender High boys were outside walking the dog when they saw the nearby fire.
