FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - After executing two search warrants, two Florence men have been taken into custody on drug charges.

Florence County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Investigators were joined by Florence Police investigators when they served the search warrant on a home on Blass Drive in Florence Friday.

What they discovered was "a large quantity of marijuana (approximately eight pounds), tools of distribution and over $24,000 in cash," says sheriff's office spokesman Capt. Michael Nunn. The estimated street value of the drugs in that home was $32,000.

Police then arrested 26-year-old Samuel Smith and charged him with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The second home they searched was on College Lake Drive where they discovered a "sizeable" quantity of marijuana. Police then arrested 25-year-old Edward Lee Guilatte II and charged him with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Both Smith and Gullatte are being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing. The investigation leading to these arrests is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are possible.
